Flemmons Christmas

On our way to West Texas, we love to stop at our sweet friends, the White's, in Hamlin.
Chad is one of two docs in town and Jennifer is a PT and stay-at-home mom that home-schools their 5 kids. The three older boys are Caleb, Jackson, and Benjamin. They have a new set of twins that are 13 months, Luke and Lillie Kate. If you are ever passing through Hamlin, the Whites are wonderful people to stop and see...even when we call them at the last minute, they always have a snack waiting in the fridge and a present for the kids!! I don't know how they do it!
Katelin loves playing with the boys. I think Jackson and Katelin are going to be boyfriend and girlfriend one of these days...see the look in their eyes, and Katelin asks about Jackson all the time!!
The boys on the front porch freezing waiting to wave us "bye"
At Mema and Pa's we spend most of our Playing Pitch.
The girls spent most of their time primping.

Katelin loved getting inside the toy basket and covering herself with all of the toys. Tye just sitting back and enjoying the ride.

We spent a day visiting my cousins in Lubbock. Dell and Julie have three kids: Hannah, Ryan, and baby Ethan. Such a sweet family.

We then went and visited my mom's side of the family. They are such a sweet family...
...most of the time!! John and David playing Uno Attack.
I think David's hand won every game...his hand did get traded every time, but to him it still counts that his hand won!
The kids had a great time building a tent.

It was a short trip to West Texas, but we love going there to have lots of good Mema cookin' and Pitch Playin'.
As kids we were never allowed to play on the treadmill thing in the corner, but now as great-grand kids...they get away with everything!!
Packed in the family 'Burb. No, we did not go for the Suburban just yet, we borrowed Meg's dad's suburban to travel to West Texas. Kari and Keslyn joined us on the way back to Round Rock and helped keep the kids in order in the back seat.
SUV, here we come!! (Actually, we have decided we are going to buy a Mini-Van, but call it a "Sports-Utility Van"!!...I think that's a fair compromise)

Bolding Christmas

We spent Christmas Day with Meghan's family this year.

You should have seen Katelin when she came down stairs and saw all of the goodies under the tree!
Sweet Santa Tye
Katelin had a great time "helping" everyone open their presents.
Katelin loves her clothes and had to try them all on at once.

Katelin showing off her domestic side. She loves to help clean around the house. I'm not sure where she learned ironing from, though. I don't think we have ironed since Katelin was born!!
Crazy Zane and Val:

Here is Katelin under the tree with Granddaddy making sure he gets ALL of the presents out.
Tye and Meg's cousin Tucker
Taking the new wheels out for a spin.

Katelin had such a great time opening presents this year.
She got a "monkeys jumping on the bed" game and we caught her lining them all up with their heads on the pillows...too cute. She was telling them they had to go to bed. If only she would take her own advice!!
Gametime after the presents:
Katelin having PB&J for Christmas dinner while we enjoy turkey leftovers.
Day after Christmas:

Rock Band at Chad and Jenny's --the best game ever!
I think we have a drummer in the family. Just look at that face...Katelin was getting all into it.
Tye in the Mosh Pit :) He was actually trying to help Chad sing a little.
I think I'll ask for an X-Box 360, Rock band 3, and a 73 inch plasma for Christmas next year :)

DC vacation pics

Sorry it has taken so long to get these pics posted, but as you can see, there are a ton of them!!

Here is our trip, with as little commentary as I could stand.

View from our hotel room:
Smithsonian American Art Museum:
"THE" George Washington portrait on the dollar bill.
Meghan's Great great great......grandfather: Zachary Taylor (Zachary Tye's Great great great great...grandfather)
Mom's first trip to DC and first ride on the Metro:

China Town:
Air Force Memorial: "Go Meghan"
US Capitol: can you tell my mom was excited to visit DC for the first time?

Smithsonian Castle: Did you know that Mr. Smithson never visited the US until after he died (His body is actually inside the castle in a tomb on display), yet he donated his estate to us to make the Smithsonian Museums?

Bureau of Engraving and Printing: So that's what 300 million dollars smells like! They were printing $100 bills while we were there, so there were palates of ~300 million dollars just sitting there. Now I know what my salary looks like in $100 bills! Half of our money is made here. The other half is made in Ft. Worth.

Union Station:

Supreme Court: Did you know that you don't have to be lawyer to be a supreme court judge?

Library of Congress:

WWII memorial: very cool place.

Washington Monument:
From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial
Lincoln Memorial: From the Washington Monument :)

Vietnam War Memorial:
White House: If you look really close, you can see Laura Bush in the window.
(just kidding)
Plaque for Volunteers:
Old Ebbitt Grill: if you ever visit DC, you have to eat here!
Our good friend Tara and her friend Michael joined us. They ran in the MCM with us.
National Archives: Where the actual copies of Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights are. Reminds me of National Treasure!
Declaration of Independence:
Smithsonian Museum of Natural History:
Hope Diamond: mom dreaming
OK, enough museums for one trip.
I told you there were a lot of pics!
Welcome to our new blog! We thought this would be a fun way to share our pictures and lives with family and friends. Thanks for visiting. Enjoy!
Katelin celebrated her first birthday at her grandparents' house in Round Rock. We grilled hamburgers and had cake and homemade ice cream.

Katelin's one! (April 2007)
We went to the Grand Canyon for our vacation this year. We stayed in Sedona, Arizona. The mule ride was great fun! We suggest everyone seeing the Grand Canyon at least once in a lifetime.
